P. gigantea × moctezumae
A vigorous hybrid combining two exceptional Mexican species. From P. gigantea it inherits impressive size, and from P. moctezumae an elegant, elongated leaf shape and prolific flowering. The result is a showpiece ping with long, chartreuse, succulent-like leaves and soft pink to lilac blooms. Its broad, sticky leaves catch fungus gnats and other small insects on contact.
Unlike most Mexican butterworts, this hybrid stays leafy year-round thanks to its gigantea parentage. There's no tight winter rosette, just slightly reduced growth during cooler months. An excellent choice for beginners looking to grow something impressive without fussy care requirements.

Does it go dormant?
No tight winter rosette, which is unusual for a Mexican butterwort. It stays leafy year-round and simply slows down in cooler months, so it looks good through winter when other pings shrink back.
How much space does it need?
More than the compact cultivars. Mature plants reach around 8 inches across, so give it a wider pot and room on the shelf. Care is otherwise the same as the smaller butterworts.
Is it safe around pets and children?
Yes. Mexican Pinguicula are non-toxic, and the leaves only catch small insects.
